What is resilience? Resilience refers to the ability to withstand adversity and bounce back from difficult and challenging events. So in a work context, it is the employee’s ability to “return to normal” after a period of pressure and stress.
Why is it important? Our world of work is a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. This is brought about by shifts in areas such as changes in legislation, technological advancements, competing for market share and the political landscape. Workplace resilience is needed to cultivate a mindset and strategies to navigate uncertainty and emerge stronger on the other side. Our people at WPM is at the centre of our success. It then goes without saying, that their well-being is key to our success as a business. This includes their resilience.
Workplace resilience improves productivity as employees are better equipped to manage stress and increase their focus and creativity. Our partnership with Lyra Well-being ensures challenges like burnout, anxiety, etc. can be dealt with through free consultation sessions and assistance in various health disciplines.
What are the characteristics of a resilient employee? These employees build strong connections and relationships with others. They will do their best to help another person to achieve success and promote the well-being of their team. Their approach to work is balanced, with some fun added and nurture networks that offer support. Authenticity characterises their behaviour and they are aligned with their values and beliefs.
We encourage open communication and foster a culture where employees feel comfortable sharing concerns and ideas.
Stress management skills are developed through courses offered by our training partner, Succeed Academy’s Online Academy, at no cost to the employee. We also offer various assistance programmes through Lyra Well-being.
When we were young, growing up and dreaming of who we were to become, the last thing on our minds was a phase “Work-Life Balance”. At WPM we would like our staff to find that balance, keeping them young at heart and still remaining focused on the tasks at hand.
A work-life balance is promoted by a healthy balance between work and personal life. Work from home opportunities are offered where practical. Our employees are encouraged to participate in team building events to foster stronger and healthier relationships in our teams. We publicly celebrate the successes of our employees.
By investing in workplace resilience, WPM can create a culture of adaptability, innovation, and success. Resilience can be developed and strengthened with practice and support.
Our People Matter!
