On Commitment, by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Until one is committed, there is always hesitancy,
the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth,
the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising to one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no one could have dreamed would come their way.
Whatever you can do or dream you can begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.
Why is it so easy to allow doubt or fear to be the defining emotion that guides our decisions and hold us back from stepping out and leaning in. Rather, this year let us take a bold and purposeful step forward, where we commit and direct all our resources, while stepping outside of where we may feel more comfortable. To choose to step away from that which would be our expected normal and rather to embrace the opportunity of doing something completely different and hugely challenging. To do this will require significant effort, diligence, and fortitude especially in overcoming the loud trill voice of self-doubt and lack of belief in one’s abilities, but if we do this, the only result can be huge possibilities, with opportunities for success and personal growth.
So, for 2024, what is it that requires us to take our first steps into the unknown and to do something completely out of whack and completely different and new, even when there seem to be so many reasons that we can think of as to why we shouldn’t. Perhaps though, now is the time to overcome the cacophony of noise that prevents us from moving into new possibilities and opportunities, which stops us from imagining and dreaming of what could be. Sometimes it is easy to be frozen by the reality of our current circumstance, of where we find ourselves, and to use this as a reason not to bring about changes to our lives and to our circumstance. It just requires boldness and commitment on our part to be the change.
Living in a community scheme where one is always in close contact with others takes huge commitment.
Commitment towards living peacefully with one’s fellow residents.
Commitment to adopting an attitude of harmony and goodwill towards one’s fellow residents.
Commitment to choosing consideration of others and their needs over selfishness.
Commitment to better choices in how I conduct myself, and how my daily choices impact others.
Commitment to the greater good for your community and for your community scheme.
Commitment to learning about the responsibilities associated with community living.
Commitment to living within the confines of sometimes restrictive conduct rules, management rules and in accordance with legislation that governs community scheme living.
Commitment to common decency and politeness.
Commitment to serve in the management of the scheme as an elected scheme executive.
Commitment requires self-sacrifice and in doing so, let us commit ourselves to being a part of a better and brighter 2024, with endless possibilities and opportunities. All of us at Whitfields wish all our clients and customers a very happy new year for 2024. May the year be filled with favour and the fulfilment of dreams and may you all experiences new adventures, fun and good fortune wherever you find yourselves.
