TRACS – SECTIONAL TITLE TRAINING FOR OWNERS AND TRUSTEES
TRACS is the Training Academy for Community Schemes. TRACS offers a website with free on-line training and other resources providing access to information about the diverse types of community schemes found in South Africa, and the legislation governing these schemes.
TRACS students can do the courses on offer in five different languages, and they will obtain an industry-accredited certificate on successful completion of the course. “Whether you’re a homeowner, renter or trustee in your Community Scheme, it is imperative that you know about all the key role players, laws, regulations and procedures that keep the sector in check.”
As a first featured course, TRACS offers An Introductory Guide for Sectional Title Owners
The learning objectives of this course will enable you, the Property Owner, to:
•   apply basic skills to manage your property and its value.
•   describe the rights and responsibilities concerning your property.
•   understand the rules and procedures that must be followed within a Scheme.
•   identify the payment obligations you have towards your Scheme.
•   demonstrate the ability to fully participate in Body Corporate meetings.
•   make informed decisions when you are nominating, electing and/or acting as a Trustee.
•   identify the most important role-players in your Scheme and know what is expected from them.
•   know the obligations your Body Corporate has in respect of insurance; and
•   know what steps to follow when you want to resolve a dispute that relates to your Scheme.
TRACS was launched to the Community Scheme Industry at the NAMA conference in October 2022, and they have also published a Sectional Title Scheme Reference Guide for use by Unit Owners, Trustees and Managing Agents alike.
